Thank you to everyone who was able to join us on Monday at Hartman to meet Ms. Lynch, the KCPS Hale Cook Transition Coordinator. We had a lot of great questions from prospective parents and current parents and will continue to host more opportunities for you to learn more about plans for Hale Cook – particularly as new information is available.

Ms. Lynch has already proved to be a valuable resource and we encourage you to get to know her – she’s located in Room 110 at Hartman on Mondays! She is a great addition to our partnership to make Hale Cook Elementary a success.

School Grounds Committee Meeting tonight – please join us at 8pm!

We’re meeting at the Wiercinski house just across from Hale Cook – 523 W.74th Street

Ms. Lynch is currently investigating the possibility of relocating an existing playground from a closed school building Hale Cook for Fall 2014 and we have just begun brainstorming a lot of other great ideas for the school campus. Come join the conversation and share your vision for this beautiful campus – we will be working closely with KCPS to outline a strategy for phasing in improvements over the next few years. Our goal is to establish a plan with KCPS for the Hale Cook campus that reflects our community priorities and will serve the neighborhood. We hope to see you tonight!

Community meeting on the KCPS Facilities Master Plan – Thursday

Public meeting from 5:30-7:30PM this Thursday at Paseo Academy, 4747 Flora Avenue

Did you know that KCPS is working on a major facilities master plan? This meeting will provide detailed updates on enrollment projections and scenarios for accommodating students over the next few years. The facilities master plan will also be addressing school boundaries (although Hale Cook boundaries will remain the same). Your input is needed to help shape the future of our District. More information is available on the KCPS website.

Updates from Dr. K – Hartman and Hale Cook @ Hartman Principal

Friends of Hale Cook met with Dr. K on Monday to catch up on volunteer opportunities

We know many of you signed up to serve as KCPS volunteers following an orientation last September. You may have already been contacted for scheduling to help tutor students – thank you for your service! If you have not received any updates from Hartman, we have learned that the school was overwhelmed with a great number of volunteers this year and they have exceeded their current capacity for volunteers in these roles. Dr. K is exploring opportunities for next semester and promises that Hartman will reach out to engage you in the new year. In the meantime, please consider volunteering for any of our upcoming enrollment events as we start to get the word out in December!

In the meantime, check out this recent KCPT story featuring Dr. K!

On the Scene with Green – Come meet the Superintendent

KCPS is hosting a conversation with the Superintendent this Sunday, 2:30-3:30pm at the North-East branch of the Kansas City Public Library

As part of the ongoing effort to engage the community, Dr. Green is hosting another conversation this weekend at the North-East branch of the Kansas City Public Library (6000 Wilson Avenue) which is open to the public. This is a great opportunity to hear more on progress as a District, plans for the future, and for you to ask questions. More information is available on the KCPS website.

Fundraising Committee meeting next Monday night, 8PM

Come grab a hot chocolate with us at The Roasterie and join us in a conversation about crowdfunding

We hope to have a special guest from Neighbor.ly attending this meeting to talk to us about a crowdfunding campaign to support our efforts this year and as we prepare for the 2014-2015 school year in Hale Cook. Everyone is welcome! We’re outlining a strategy for the year that will help us support our current students, leave a legacy gift with our sister school Hartman Elementary, and plan for great things to come for our next year with even more students at Hale Cook Elementary School.
