We know that first impressions are really critical – so we think it’s time to spruce up the campus of Hale Cook so our friends and neighbors can be excited about this beautiful community asset. We’re kicking off a monthly Community Work Day to help clean up the campus and freshen it up for 2012. If you would like to volunteer for any of these dates, please let us know! More information is below.

February Community Work Day – Saturday, February 18 from 1:30pm-3:30pm

Join us for our first work day with your gardening gloves and tools. Together, we will be tackling the following:

  • Raking leaves
  • Picking up trash
  • Pulling weeds
  • Spreading mulch on our butterfly maze
  • Repair of the dumpster doors

If you can bring your tools, some trash bags, and friends and family, we promise it will be a fun and efficient day to really make a difference. As always, we would also love it if you brought your camera to help us document the transformation underway at Hale Cook Elementary. If you are interested in volunteering, please email Ashley Z. Hand at ashleyzhand@gmail.com.

Save the Date: March Community Work Day – Saturday, March 24 from 10:00am-12:00pm

For our second work day, we’ll be gearing up for some significant improvements to the campus – including possibly painting our school doors! We’ll be working to get approval from the District to make this upgrade so check back for more details as we get closer. We’ll also be working in our gardens to freshen everything up for Spring time – so if you’ve got a green thumb, we’d love to get you involved.

Do you have some painting supplies you would like to donate? We’d love to know about it and will even come and pick them up. Please contact us and we will be happy to make arrangements to pick up whatever you might have.

Save the Date: April Community Work Day – Saturday, April 21 from 10:00am-12:00pm

In the spirit of Earth Day, we’re going big with this community work day. In addition to having an opportunity to improve our neighborhood, we invite you to join us for some green festivities. Sign-up for a rain barrel workshop ($65/barrel) and get some valuable information about what you can do to improve our environment. More details to follow!
