This is our third community workday for 2012 and we are really excited for some of the projects we have going on. We will continue our work on the butterfly maze – a community garden of native plants to inspire and educate neighbors of all ages!

PLUS, we will have a chipper rental on hand for those of you with some extra yard waste (smaller branches and tree trimmings) to be composted for our garden. AND we will be preparing to repaint the exterior doors of the building – a new, fresh look for the campus! All ages are welcome so come and be part of the effort.

Join us for our third volunteer opportunity of 2012: Saturday, April 21 from 9:00am-12:00pm at Hale Cook Elementary (7302 Pennsylvania).

If you’re able to join us, please consider bringing any of the following:

  • Transplants from your garden
  • Seeds for your favorite plants (natives or whatever your preference)
  • Old hoses – we’ll repair them if busted!
  • Gloves
  • Garbage bags
  • Wheelbarrow
  • Rakes
  • Shovels

Perennials such as black-eyed susans, coneflowers, liatris, prairie dock, asters, etc. are great! Zinnias and sunflower varieties are also welcome. For a list of specific plant types – check out the links below:
