We’ll be meeting for some coffee and a discussion about the Nettlehorst School model – a community school in Chicago which has been a great resource for our plans for Hale Cook. Copies of the book How to Walk to School: Blueprint for a Neighborhood School Renaissance (by Susan Kurland and Jacqueline Edelberg) are available at the Kansas City Public Library or online for purchase. While Nettlehorst was an open school that was failing and revitalized, we have found this community-driven effort to be  great inspiration for our work here in Kansas City. Join us for a discussion about what we can learn from this exemplary model for our public schools in Kansas City.
Let’s plan on meeting at Bella Napoli in Brookside at 10am on Saturday, January 21! See you there.
