As of late last week, we have about sixty confirmed enrollment applications for 2011 and we continue to reach out to new local groups to increase awareness about this growing grassroots movement. Just last week, we presented our community proposal to reopen Hale Cook as a neighborhood school to the Second Presbyterian Church, Southtown Council, Brookside Business and Waldo Business Associations and canvassed a large portion of our neighborhood following the parade last Saturday. We continue to meet wide support and plan to continue our efforts with a focus on the 2012 school year.

We will be reorganizing as a committee to include many of the great ideas for improving the school grounds, hosting events at the space, and engaging a broader community in the effort to open the school. While many more details will follow in the coming months, we would like to invite you to join us for a brainstorming session on Monday, March 21 at the Waldo Public Library from 6:30pm-7:30pm to help us plan what’s next. It is your feedback, after all, that has brought us this far in just three short months and your input will ensure our sustained success.

What’s Next Hale Cook?
